Rathhill 6/4 favourite to land Tolworth Hurdle this Saturday

Updated: 11/12/2024

First Grade One race of 2019 awaits

The first Grade One race of 2019 arrives this Saturday, with a strong field for the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown.

Heading the betting is the JP McManus-owned Rathhill at 6/4. Those odds have tumbled from the 9/4 price the five-year-old occupied when the betting opened on Tuesday.

Next up is Elixir De Nutz at 11/4, while another from the McManus stable – Epatante – is third in the betting at odds of 7/1.

There’s a quartet of charges available at 8/1, including Birchdale and Bright Forecast.

Coral’s David Stevens said: “JP McManus and Nicky Henderson sent out the last Grade One winner of 2018 when Champ triumphed in the Challow Hurdle at Newbury, and punters clearly believe the duo can strike again at the top level at the first opportunity this year, with Rathhill already a warm favourite for Saturday's Tolworth,”

The weekend also sees the Veterans’ Final taking place at Sandown. It’s Rock Gone at 7/1 who heads the betting, with Beat That and Henllan Harri both at 8s.
