Joe Tizzard: “We’re super excited about White Moon over fences.”

The Tizzard crew preview their Friday chances

Friday – Cheltenham

12.40 – Bally Longford

We kick off a busy weekend with Bally Longford.  He’s a generally consistent sort who got his head in front at Newbury on his last run of last season, and hopefully that win will have done his confidence on the track a world of good.

We’ve been waiting for the ground to come right to run him again, and this is the right race to start him off.  [His owners] the Potts family will be at Cheltenham this weekend, so it will be nice for them to see him run.  It’s a competitive looking race, but he’s about where we want him

 1.15 – Rockpoint & Sizing Cusimano

We run two in this, Rockpoint and Sizing Cusimano.  The latter won a little race at Market Rasen, and he looks to be on a sensible mark.

Ideally he wants further, but we should get away with it here as there are plenty of runners and it should be a strongly run race, and he’ll be doing his best work at the finish.

I think he has the potential to win off this mark, whether it will be in a race as competitive as this, we’ll have to wait and see.

Rockpoint is a lovely horse, who was unlucky not to win a race last season, as he ran some excellent races.

He’s filled out nicely over the summer, and is a potentially a really nice horse who could run a big race, and I’d say he has the better chance of our two here.

 1.50 – Shanahan’s Turn

Shanahan’s Turn ran a lovely race to finish second to Ultragold in the Topham last April, and is another who possibly wants a little bit further, but he acts around Cheltenham OK and has a chance of making the frame.

2.25 – White Moon

We’re super excited about running White Moon over fences, we’re just trying to keep the novices apart at the moment, and this 2 ½ mile trip is perfect for him.

Obviously the most important thing is he gets a clear round of jumping in and enjoys himself.

He’s schooled really well, looks a picture, and we think he’s one of our high class novice chasers, we can’t wait to get started with him.

3.35 – Darlac

Darlac absolutely bolted up in a little novice race at Fontwell last month, and having won like that, he’s earned the right to have a go at a race like this, we can find out where we are with him.

We can always drop back in class if need be, but he couldn’t have been more impressive and Dickie Johnson was keen to ride him again.

He’s done some lovely pieces of work, and it really wouldn’t be a surprise if he shook them up here.
