Joe Tizzard: “Battle of Ideas should have a big chance on Sunday.”
Updated: 09/12/2024
The latest weekend preview from the Tizzard stables
Saturday – Newbury
2.25 – Sandy Beach
For whatever reason we couldn’t quite get Sandy Beach right last year, but we had his wind looked at and he did it nicely on his return at Uttoxeter last month.
He’s won at Newbury before and hopefully he’s still got a pound or two in hand here, it’s a competitive race but he should run well.
3.35 – Golden Sunrise & Mount Rushmoore
Both Golden Sunrise and Mount Rushmoore disappointed on their last runs.
Golden Sunrise didn’t travel a yard at Uttoxeter, but he schooled brilliantly this morning [Friday], he’s definitely got potential although he might take a couple of runs to get his act together over fences.
Mount Rushmoore has been disappointing in his two runs this season, and looked bone idle with it!
Like Golden Sunrise he has schooled well, we’ll put the cheek pieces on him to see if they help, there’s no doubt he’s got the ability, but it’s whether he shows it or not.
Doncaster – 2.05 – Drinks Interval
This looks to be a lovely race for Drinks Interval. She’s up against Lady Buttons who runs here rather than at Wetherby earlier in the week, but this 2 ½ mile trip on decent ground will really suit her.
If she runs like she did at Newbury last time, she could take a bit of beating.
Sunday – Taunton
1.15 – My Lady Grey
My Lady Grey wasn’t quite right in the early part of the season, but she’s got bits and pieces of bumper form, and she jumps really nicely at home so this should be a stepping stone to better things.
Ideally we’d have started her off in a mares only novice hurdle, but she’s definitely better than average and we’re looking forward to running her.
1.50 – Battle of Ideas
It’s turned out to be quite a competitive race that Battle Of Ideas is in, but he’s in good nick, we’ve schooled him and he jumped beautifully.
He even had a little buck after he jumped a fence, which I’ve never seen him do before, so he’s obviously in really good order with himself.
This trip and ground should be perfect for him, the handicapper has given him a chance off of 112, so if he can hold his jumping together, which he should, he should have a big shout, and is probably our best chance of a winner on the day.
3.55 – Queen Of The Wind
Queen Of The Wind is creeping up the handicap, but again this trip and course is made for her.
Although she’s only a small mare, she can handle the weight, and I think she’s capable of winning again.
Lingfield 1.35 – Golden Etoile
Flat racing is not our game, so Sir Michael Stoute needn’t worry, but Golden Etoile is running on Lingfield’s all weather.
She has looked nervous over hurdles so we’re keen to give her a spin on the flat and see what her wind is like.
