FA Cup third round Betting tips: Will Arsenal shoot down Blackpool?

Updated: 11/12/2024

Odds and preview ahead of cup clashes

The third round really kicks in to gear this afternoon as the bulk of the fixtures take place.

There is always an air of optimism for all the teams involved on third round weekend – the magic of the cup tends to produce some real upsets.

Dreams of a fantasy cup run are either bolstered, or dashed before they’ve even begun.

And ahead of today’s games we run through five picks of the bunch to keep an eye on…

Manchester United v Reading (12:30pm)

Man United kick things off in the lunch-time kick off against Championship strugglers Reading.

It will see John O’Shea return to Old Trafford for perhaps the last time in his career. The defender is 33/1 to score anytime.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to make it five wins on the spin is 1/10.

The Red Devils to win with Over 4.5 goals in the game is 11/5.

Alexis Sanchez to bag on his comeback injury is 10/11 anytime.

West Bromwich Albion v Wigan Athletic (12:30pm)

The Championship clash gets a FA Cup-shaped rebrand here as West Brom look to defeat Wigan for the second time in ten days.

You can get a repeat of the Baggies 2-0 home win at 15/2.

Bakary Sako is 9/5 to get on the scoresheet.

Wigan have been struggling in front of goal this season, but Joe Garner did score two in the recent draw against Swansea City.

Garner is 5/2 to bag any time. His strike partner James Vaughan is 15/2 to score first.

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest (3:00pm)

Chelsea to bounce back from their draw with Southampton and advance to round four is 1/4.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek to add to his six goals this season is 7/5 anytime.

Callum Hudson-Odoi may not be at Chelsea for too much longer, but the young winger is 13/10 to notch here.

Despite Forest’s owners clearly prioritising the league, top scorer Lewis Grabban could line up in attack.

The 14-goal man is 14/5 anytime. They did beat Arsenal at this stage last season and are 11/1 to win the game.

But Chelsea are the current cup holders and are 11/4 to run up a score of Over 3.5 goals.

Derby County v Southampton (3:00pm)

There is scope for there to be a ‘cupset’ at Pride Park this afternoon.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is in the midst of a relegation battle in the Premier League, and could possibly see the FA Cup as a distraction.

Derby have been a solid outfit under Frank Lampard this season. The Rams to snare a victory is 17/10.

Both teams to score is 4/5. Manolo Gabbiadini could start for the Saints and is 9/4 to hit the onion bag.

Blackpool v Arsenal (5:30pm)

This is the second time the pair have met in a cup competition this season. Arsenal beat Blackpool 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium in Carabao Cup in October.

The Gunners are as short as 1/4 to bag the win.

Eddie Nketiah could get a start and he’s 5/6 to grab his first goal of the season.

Aaron Ramsey may not be an Arsenal player for too much longer, but is 6/4 to score anytime.

Blackpool should make this a real grudge match and are 3/1 on the double chance, with a draw taking the game to replay at the Emirates.
