Everton v Spurs Betting Tips: No sticky Toffees for Tottenham today?

Updated: 19/11/2024

Latest odds and preview for Premier League match

The final Premier League fixture before Christmas looks set to be a cracker as Everton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Goodison Park.

Marco Silva’s men may be on a poor run of form but their performances at least hint towards a difficult match for today’s visitors. Spurs, though, won’t fear anyone after 10 wins in their last 12 matches, including a 2-0 midweek North London derby success in the Carabao Cup.

You can catch all the action live on Sky Sports Football or Sky Sports Main Event from 4pm.

Head-to-Head

Tottenham rarely come unstuck against the Toffees. Far from proving sticky, the North Londoners are unbeaten in their last 11 matches with Everton. That includes a run of three straight victories which last season produced 3-0 and 4-0 victories.

Goals from Harry Kane either side of Christian Eriksen’s strike proved enough the last time the sides met at Goodison Park. Kane struck another brace in the January meeting as Spurs ran out comfortable winners under the Wembley arch.

Likely XIs

Silva is expected to return to an attack-minded 4-2-3-1 after packing the midfield against Manchester City last week. That could be dependent on the fitness of Idrissa Gueye. The Senegalese midfielder is touch-and-go, and will be assessed prior to kick-off. Richarlison should spearhead the attack with Bernard, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Ademola Lookman in behind.

Spurs have injury problems of their own. Ben Davies looks set to remain alongside Toby Alderweireld in the centre of defence, while Harry Winks should partner Moussa Sissoko in a defensive midfield two. Kane will be restored to the line-up after coming off the bench against Arsenal in midweek.

Everton vs Spurs - Football tactics and formations

Key Battles

Yerry Mina and Michael Keane need to get a handle on Kane. If they don’t, then that long winless run against Spurs could be set to continue. It’s no coincidence that the England ace has hit a brace in each of his last three appearances against the Toffees, after all.

Everton fans will be hoping Richarlison can make the difference for their side. The Brazilian star has all the qualities required to upset a makeshift Tottenham back-line. However, his record against the ‘big six’ leaves a lot to be desired. The 21-year-old has yet to find the net in any of his 16 matches against the illustrious half-dozen.

Match Odds

The Coral traders reckon Tottenham should keep up their excellent run against the Toffees. Spurs are 5/4 favourites to take all three points, against 21/10 for Everton. The draw is 12/5.

Regardless of the result, both sides do at least have plenty of firepower. Both Teams to Score is a 6/10 chance, with Kane deemed the most likely to break the deadlock at 16/5. He’s 3/1 to Score 2 or More for the fourth match running against the Blues.

RIcharlison holds the key for Everton at 2/1, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin priced at 12/5 to follow up his consolation against Man City with another goal here.
