Chelsea v Man City Betting Tips: Pep’s men to continue winning run?

Updated: 10/12/2024

Odds and preview ahead of top-four tussle

Manchester City are looking to take a firm grip on the Premier League title race this weekend, but face a Chelsea side yet to lose at home this season.

However, cracks are beginning to appear for Maurizio Sarri’s side, who lost at Molineux in midweek.

So, can the Blues bounce back on home soil? Or will Guardiola’s men grab an eighth straight league win?

Head-to-head

Over history, it’s Chelsea who have had more to shout about with 66 wins to the Citizens’ 55.

However, including the Community Shield, City have won each of the last three meetings between these sides – and eight consecutive games in London.

Pep Guardiola’s side have also mustered up clean sheets in five of the last eight head-to-heads.

Likely XIs

Both sides are pretty consistent 4-3-3 outfits at present, and are likely to more-or-less match one another tactically in this clash.

Following goals in each of his last three league outings, Ruben Loftus-Cheek could start in a midfield three, alongside N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.

City missed Sergio Aguero through injury against Watford, and he’s touch-and-go to start in the capital. Further back, a centre-back pairing of Aymeric Laporte and John Stones looks likely, with Vincent Kompany still carrying a knock.

Key Battles

Aguero has been an absolute nightmare for Chelsea throughout his career. In 17 meetings, he’s managed 12 goals and three assists.

The best bet for the Blues’ centre-back pairing might be taking a robust, physical approach to keeping the tricky Argentine quiet.

Chelsea’s biggest threat comes on the flanks. Youngster Oleksandr Zinchenko has deputised at left-back in the absence of Benjamin Mendy, but could be targeted as a weak link by the hosts’ talented wide men.

Match Odds

In the Match Result, City are odds-on at 10/11. Meanwhile, it’s 27/10 for a Chelsea win, and the Draw is 13/5.

Four of the visitors’ last five games have seen both sides find the net. It’s 8/13 for Both Teams to Score, while Pep’s side are 5/2 to Score Over 2.5 Goals for the 14th time this season.

Aguero leads the Anytime Goalscorer market at 23/20. Meanwhile, the 30-year-old striker is 7/2 to net Two or More Goals at the Bridge.

Eden Hazard is probably the hosts’ biggest goal threat at present, and can be backed at 15/8 Anytime.

As regards dark horses, there could be interest in Bernardo Silva. The lively midfielder has found the net in three of his last six outings for club and country. He’s 4/1 to add to his tally in West London.
