New Year’s Day sees every single Championship side take to the field at 3pm. That means 12 matches and the opportunity to create an ACCA featuring a dozen sides. Below we’ve picked out the best tip for every match taking place in the second tier. It’s in alphabetical order and that means kicking off at Villa Park.

Aston Villa vs. QPR

QPR and Villa sit a single point apart in eighth and ninth positions respectively thus making this a tough match result to call. Instead we’ll look beyond that.

Villa Park has been the place to go for goals in recent weeks and their last four matches have all had over 3.5 goals. Both teams have scored in all four games too.

Steve McClaren’s QPR side have scored once in all of their last four away matches and Both Teams to Score @ 5/8 is perfect ACCA material.

Blackburn vs. West Brom

Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn side have not won in five games and are on a torrid run of three successive defeats. Rovers have also conceded in all of their last four home matches.

Darren Moore’s free-scoring Baggies have only failed to score in three of 12 away matches. They have managed over 1.5 goals in the last four away trips and it makes West Brom to Score Over 1.5 Goals @ 11/10 a pick worth making.

function notifyResize(height) {height = height ? height : document.documentElement.offsetHeight; var resized = false; if (window.donkey && donkey.resize) {donkey.resize(height); resized = true;}if (parent && parent._resizeIframe) {var obj = {iframe: window.frameElement, height: height}; parent._resizeIframe(obj); resized = true;}if (window.location && window.location.hash === “#amp=1” && window.parent && window.parent.postMessage) {window.parent.postMessage({sentinel: “amp”, type: “embed-size”, height: height}, “*”);}if (window.webkit && window.webkit.messageHandlers && window.webkit.messageHandlers.resize) {window.webkit.messageHandlers.resize.postMessage(height); resized = true;}return resized;}twttr.events.bind(‘rendered', function (event) {notifyResize();}); twttr.events.bind(‘resize', function (event) {notifyResize();});if (parent && parent._resizeIframe) {var maxWidth = parseInt(window.frameElement.getAttribute(“width”)); if ( 500 < maxWidth) {window.frameElement.setAttribute("width", "500");}}

Brentford vs. Norwich

Talking of goals, Norwich City have scored 47 times in the Championship this season and four of their last five matches have gone over 3.5 goals. Only Hull City have stopped them scoring an away goal this season.

Brentford have dropped like a stone since manager Dean Smith joined Villa and have conceded two or more goals in three of their last four home matches. Championship top scorer Teemi Puuki will be licking his lips at that form and it’s easy to back Norwich to Score Over 1.5 Goals @ 11/8.

Derby vs. Middlesbrough

Two teams separated only by goal difference means it will be cagey at Pride Park. Only 50% of Derby’s home matches have gone over 2.5 goals.

body[data-twttr-rendered=”true”] {background-color: transparent;}.twitter-tweet {margin: auto !important;}

function notifyResize(height) {height = height ? height : document.documentElement.offsetHeight; var resized = false; if (window.donkey && donkey.resize) {donkey.resize(height); resized = true;}if (parent && parent._resizeIframe) {var obj = {iframe: window.frameElement, height: height}; parent._resizeIframe(obj); resized = true;}if (window.location && window.location.hash === “#amp=1” && window.parent && window.parent.postMessage) {window.parent.postMessage({sentinel: “amp”, type: “embed-size”, height: height}, “*”);}if (window.webkit && window.webkit.messageHandlers && window.webkit.messageHandlers.resize) {window.webkit.messageHandlers.resize.postMessage(height); resized = true;}return resized;}twttr.events.bind(‘rendered', function (event) {notifyResize();}); twttr.events.bind(‘resize', function (event) {notifyResize();});if (parent && parent._resizeIframe) {var maxWidth = parseInt(window.frameElement.getAttribute(“width”)); if ( 500 < maxWidth) {window.frameElement.setAttribute("width", "500");}}

Chuck Tony Pulis’ brand of defensive footy into the mix, whose Boro side rank last for games going over 2.5 goals with just 24% of their 25 games topping that number, and backing Under 2.5 Goals @ 5/7 is clearly the way to go.

Hull City vs. Bolton Wanderers

Nigel Adkins’ Tigers are the Championship’s form team after embarking on a six-game unbeaten run. Their last four matches have all been wins plus they have scored two or more goals in each game.

Bolton are 10 away games without a win and have won once in their last 15 games at any venue. Back Hull City to Win @ 4/6.

Ipswich vs. Millwall

The Tractor Boys enter 2019 at the foot of the Championship following a rotten run of two wins from 25 games. Paul Lambert’s Ipswich team average under one goal per home game (11 goals in 12 matches) and Millwall have similar issues away from the Den (10 goals in 12 away fixtures). Bump up those ACCA odds by backing Under 2.5 goals @ 4/7.

Nottingham Forest vs. Leeds United

Forest have failed to score in four of their last five games and three of the last four at home. Leeds have scored in every away match this season and, whilst both teams to NOT score is tempting @ 21/20, we will back Under 2.5 Goals @ 4/5 for some safety.

body[data-twttr-rendered=”true”] {background-color: transparent;}.twitter-tweet {margin: auto !important;}

function notifyResize(height) {height = height ? height : document.documentElement.offsetHeight; var resized = false; if (window.donkey && donkey.resize) {donkey.resize(height); resized = true;}if (parent && parent._resizeIframe) {var obj = {iframe: window.frameElement, height: height}; parent._resizeIframe(obj); resized = true;}if (window.location && window.location.hash === “#amp=1” && window.parent && window.parent.postMessage) {window.parent.postMessage({sentinel: “amp”, type: “embed-size”, height: height}, “*”);}if (window.webkit && window.webkit.messageHandlers && window.webkit.messageHandlers.resize) {window.webkit.messageHandlers.resize.postMessage(height); resized = true;}return resized;}twttr.events.bind(‘rendered', function (event) {notifyResize();}); twttr.events.bind(‘resize', function (event) {notifyResize();});if (parent && parent._resizeIframe) {var maxWidth = parseInt(window.frameElement.getAttribute(“width”)); if ( 500 < maxWidth) {window.frameElement.setAttribute("width", "500");}}

Reading vs. Swansea City

The Royals have stopped winning games (no victories in nine) and that has been compounded by a run of one goal scored in the space of five fixtures.

Swansea have embarked on a three-game winless run of their own over the festive period with no clean sheet in eight matches. This is when Reading’s run of not scoring comes to an end though. Back Both Teams to Score @ 5/8.

Rotherham vs. Preston

The Millers have only lost twice at home in 12 matches and are a hard nut to crack at the New York Stadium. The issue is turning results into wins and six home draws is the third highest mark in the Championship.

body[data-twttr-rendered=”true”] {background-color: transparent;}.twitter-tweet {margin: auto !important;}

function notifyResize(height) {height = height ? height : document.documentElement.offsetHeight; var resized = false; if (window.donkey && donkey.resize) {donkey.resize(height); resized = true;}if (parent && parent._resizeIframe) {var obj = {iframe: window.frameElement, height: height}; parent._resizeIframe(obj); resized = true;}if (window.location && window.location.hash === “#amp=1” && window.parent && window.parent.postMessage) {window.parent.postMessage({sentinel: “amp”, type: “embed-size”, height: height}, “*”);}if (window.webkit && window.webkit.messageHandlers && window.webkit.messageHandlers.resize) {window.webkit.messageHandlers.resize.postMessage(height); resized = true;}return resized;}twttr.events.bind(‘rendered', function (event) {notifyResize();}); twttr.events.bind(‘resize', function (event) {notifyResize();});if (parent && parent._resizeIframe) {var maxWidth = parseInt(window.frameElement.getAttribute(“width”)); if ( 500 < maxWidth) {window.frameElement.setAttribute("width", "500");}}

Preston struggle to score goals away from Deepdale and have just nine strikes in 12 away games. Four of their 12 matches have gone over 2.5 goals and backing Under 2.5 Goals @ 4/5 is the boost your ACCA needs.

Sheffield Wednesday vs. Birmingham City

Two former Premier League sides hit Hillsborough in good form and it makes predicting a result very tricky. The draw looks tempting at 2/1, however, the interesting trend to exploit is the team to score first. Sheffield Wednesday have done this in their last five games and you can back First Team to Score — Wednesday @ 21/20.

Stoke City vs. Bristol City

Stoke’s season is back on track after a run of just one loss in the last 12 games. The reason they remain in 12th position is the fact that seven of those matches have been draws.

Bristol City, above Stoke on goal difference in 11th, are no strangers to a stalemate themselves and have drawn four of the last seven matches. Back the Draw @ 9/4.

Wigan vs. Sheffield United

Who has scored the most goals in the English league system since the turn of the century? You might be surprised to learn that honour goes to Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp. His 219 goals put him level with Rickie Lambert and his next goal will give him sole ownership of that feat.

body[data-twttr-rendered=”true”] {background-color: transparent;}.twitter-tweet {margin: auto !important;}

function notifyResize(height) {height = height ? height : document.documentElement.offsetHeight; var resized = false; if (window.donkey && donkey.resize) {donkey.resize(height); resized = true;}if (parent && parent._resizeIframe) {var obj = {iframe: window.frameElement, height: height}; parent._resizeIframe(obj); resized = true;}if (window.location && window.location.hash === “#amp=1” && window.parent && window.parent.postMessage) {window.parent.postMessage({sentinel: “amp”, type: “embed-size”, height: height}, “*”);}if (window.webkit && window.webkit.messageHandlers && window.webkit.messageHandlers.resize) {window.webkit.messageHandlers.resize.postMessage(height); resized = true;}return resized;}twttr.events.bind(‘rendered', function (event) {notifyResize();}); twttr.events.bind(‘resize', function (event) {notifyResize();});if (parent && parent._resizeIframe) {var maxWidth = parseInt(window.frameElement.getAttribute(“width”)); if ( 500 < maxWidth) {window.frameElement.setAttribute("width", "500");}}

Sharp has already scored a hat trick against Wigan once this season and you can back Sharp Anytime Goalscorer @ 5/4.

With all that knowledge it’s time to pick an accumulator. If we’re honest, a 12-fold is a bit too much to stomach on a hangover.

Our recommended treble…

Back Both Teams to Score in Villa vs. QPR @ 5/8

Back Hull @ 4/6

Back Sheffield Weds to Score First vs. Birmingham @ 21/20

Total ACCA Odds: 4.5/1
