Bundesliga Preview: Can RB Leipzig shoot to second-place?
Updated: 18/11/2024
Preview and odds ahead of Bundesliga weekend
Die Mannschaft might still be reeling from relegation from their Nations League group, but the Bundesliga returns with club football taking centre-stage.
Bayern Munich are hoping to bounce back from their loss to rivals Borussia Dortmund when they take on Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Meanwhile, Dortmund will hope to extend their tally at the top with a win over Mainz.
Another competitive weekend of Bundesliga action is in store, including the big tie between Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig…
Wolfsburg v RB Leipzig (Saturday 2.30pm)
Wolfsburg meeting with RB Leipzig on Saturday afternoon could quite possibly be the game of the weekend.
Die Wolfe are 12/5 to win after an encouraging fashion. But the match day one injury to captain Josuha Guilavogui is starting to catch up with them.
They do have the impressive Wout Weghorst and attacking midfielder in Josip Brekalo who could cause Leipzig problems.
Weghorst is 21/20 to grab his sixth goal in 12 Bundesliga matches.
On the flip side Leipzig secured a duo of 3-0 wins over Hertha Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen at the start of November.
Leipzig are unbeaten in their last 10 games which has catapulted them to third place in the table.
Ralf Rangnick’s men are just five-points behind leaders Dortmund and are 11/10 to win.
Emil Forsberg is injured but Timo Werner is 4/1 to bag RB’s first.
Bayern Munich v Fortuna Dusseldorf
Bayern host Fortuna at the Allianz Arena and are 1/12 to return to winning ways.
If the home side have been in and out of crisis this season, then they should spare a thought for lowly-Fortuna.
They did beat Hertha 4-1 last time out to stay in touch with safety. This was certainly an upset and Fortuna are at 33/1 to cause another shock and win this weekend.
Their hopes have been boosted by the serious injury to Bayern’s James Rodriguez. Robert Lewandowski may not make the tie as he nurses a knee injury.
Serge Gnabry has looked the pick of the bunch for Der FCB. The former Arsenal man is 11/10 to score anytime.
Sandro Wagner may get the nod upfront and he could help Bayern to a win with Over 4.5 goals at 5/4.
Benito Raman could be rewarded for his brace against Hertha win a start here.
The 24-year-old is 5/1 to bag a goal and is 50/1 to grab another two goals.
Best of the rest
The Friday night football comes from the Bay Arena. Bayer Leverkusen host bottom of the table VfB Stuttgart in the weekend’s opener.
Die Werkself are in need of a win after losing two league games on the spin before the international break.
Our traders have Leverkusen at 3/4 and Over 1.5 Goals.
Dortmund are 8/13 to beat Mainz. Lucien Favre has re-energised the BVB squad and has complimented talisman Marco Reus with young, attacking talent.
Forward Jacob Bruun-Larsen is 11/2 to score first.
