Bundesliga Preview: Can Dortmund pick up where they left off?
Updated: 20/11/2024
Preview and odds ahead of Bundesliga weekend
The Bundesliga is back so we are too! The action returns from its winter break with a host of huge storylines to tie up in the second half of the season.
The fixture computer has conjured up a corker of a weekend with five of the top seven all locking horns.
Bayern Munich’s trip to Hoffenheim kick things off on Friday night.
But perhaps the biggest game of the lot is Borussia Dortmund’s visit to RB Leipzig on Saturday evening.
And it’s the Red Bull Arena where we begin our weekend preview…
RB Leipzig v Borussia Dortmund (Saturday 5.30pm)
Dortmund travel to the East to face RB Leipzig, eager to maintain their six point lead at the top of the league.
BVB only lost once before the break, coming from behind to score a vital win over Bayern Munich in November.
Lucien Favre’s side are 7/4 to win at Leipzig for the first time in the top-flight.
Leipzig are gunning for a Champions League spot and can put the pressure on the top-three.
They have signed well in January and are 29/20 to bag the victory.
Both teams to score is 8/15. The game to feature over 3.5 goals is 8/5.
The fact Dortmund have struggled against the home side in the past, means a win may increase belief that the title can be theirs.
Hoffenheim v Bayern Munich (Friday 7.30pm)
We’re in for a treat with the opening game of the Ruckrunde.
Goals have been the dish of the day in the pair’s most recent meetings.
You can find over 4.5 goals with a Bayern win at 33/20.
Hoffenheim coming out with the victory with BTTS is 6/1.
Andrej Kramaric is 2/1 to score anytime, while you can find Serge Gnabry at 6/4 to bag.
The home side didn’t lose to Bayern for three league games between November 2016 and September 2017. Die Kraichgauer are 13/10 to do the same here.
Best of the rest
The big games come thick and fast this weekend, with Bayer Leverkusen v Borussia Monchengladbach the stand-out tie on Saturday afternoon.
‘Gladbach sit in third and are 5/2 to beat their opponents again after the 2-0 win in the league earlier this season.
But Bayer got their revenge with a 5-0 thumping in the DFB Cup and start at 19/20 to grab victory.
You can look past the Sunday offering of Schalke v Wolfsburg at 5pm. These two clubs’ fortunes have flipped 180 from last season.
The Wolves are now challenging for a European place and are 7/1 to win with Both teams to score.
Schalke’s second-placed finish last season feels a long time ago now. Die Konigsblauen are 23/20 to get a much needed three points to pull away from the relegation fight.
