Vijay Singh is in no doubt he is still physically able to win a PGA Tour title but will find out on Sunday if he is mentally up to it.

Vijay Singh (14/1 Honda Classic Outright) will head into the final round of The Honda Classic sitting just a shot off the lead and he remains in contention to become the oldest ever winner on the PGA Tour.

The Fijian turned 56 last week, but he remains on course to receive a belated birthday present if he goes on to win this week’s tournament at Palm Beach.

The former world number one carded a third-round score of 65 that has seen him move into a share of second place on six-under-par for the tournament, just a stroke behind outright leader Wyndham Clark (9/2 Outright).

Should Singh go on to claim this week’s event then he will become the oldest player to win a PGA Tour title, smashing the previous record set by Sam Snead at the 1965 Greater Greensboro Open by over three years.

Indeed, only six other players have won on the PGA Tour aged 50 or over, the last of whom was Davis Love III, who was 51 when he won the 2015 Wyndham Championship.

Singh knows it will be a great achievement if he can pull off the victory and he believes he is more than capable of doing so, even though his last victory on the PGA Tour came at the 2008 Deutsche Bank Championship.

“I’m physically quite capable of doing it,” Singh told the PGA Tour website. “Mentally, I’m going to go out there and see how my mind works. If I just don’t let anything interfere, I think I can do it.”

Clark, who moved to the top of the leaderboard after carding a third-round score of 67, is at the opposite end of the experience spectrum to Singh as he is going in search of his first ever PGA Tour victory.

The likes of Rickie Fowler (3/1 fav), Jhonattan Vegas (25/1) and Brooks Koepka (13/2) are also in contention heading into what should be an interesting final day at PGA National Golf Club.

Odds subject to change.
