Tottenham Hotspur Champions League draw: Who could Spurs face in last 16? - (2025)

A 1-1 draw at the Nou Camp while Inter Milan were held to a surprise 1-1 draw at the San Siro. Through head to head rules, mission impossible was accomplished and Tottenham are through to the last 16 in the Champions League.

No doubt any Spurs fan will tell you now that it doesn't matter how you get in the hat or which seed, all that matters is that you're there.

However, Spurs qualified as runners up, behind Barcelona in Group B. This means they will now be drawn against a group winner, theoretically tougher opposition than if they had managed to win their group.

According to Uefa rules, no sides can be drawn against a club from their own group, or against a club from their home association – ie. an English team.

This narrows the field slightly. Here is who Tottenham could face in the next stage:

The draw will take place at 11am on Monday 17 December at Uefa’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

For your calendars – the first leg of the last 16 fixtures will take place on either Tuesday 12 or Wednesday 13 February, or Tuesday 19 or Wednesday 20 February. The second leg will take place on either Tuesday 5 or Wednesday 6 March, or Tuesday 12 or Wednesday 13 March.

• Porto
• Real Madrid
• Bayern Munich
• Juventus

Spurs were runners up in the group stage, meaning they will miss out on facing the likes of Schalke, Roma and Ajax.

In terms of a preferable draw, Porto stand out as a side who won an easy group, compared to superstar-laden powerhouses such as Real Madrid, PSG or Juventus (should the latter win Group H).

That said, at this stage in the competition the old cliché about ‘no easy games' definitely applies.
