Solskjaer firing Manchester United to Champions League glory again?

Manchester United have seen their odds of winning the Champions League tumble since appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker manager, according to our traders.

Under Mourinho, United were out at 33/1 to claim Europe’s biggest club competition after the group stage, a price which drifted further to 50/1 after drawing Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16.

The Red Devils form has picked up since appointing the Norwegian, with United winning 10 of their last 11 matches in all competitions. That’s seen their odds of lifting the trophy slashed to 22/1.

Solskjaer’s side were also unfancied to win the first leg of their last 16 tie against PSG, sat at 11/5 in December. That has since fallen to just 6/5 to take a lead into the second leg in Paris.

And while Solskjaer’s men were 3/1 to qualify for the quarter-finals, an 11-game unbeaten run in all competitions has seen those odds slashed to just 11/8.

Alex Apati of Bookmaker said: “The odds surrounding United in Europe have taken a dramatic turn over the last few months and while they looked dead and buried when the draw for the Last 16 was made, the Ole-effect has given the Red Devils a new lease of life.”
