Wolverhampton Wanderers v Sevilla Preview
Nuno Espirito Santo's men head to Duisburg, Germany for a UEFA Europa League quarter-final clash with Sevilla on Tuesday, August 11th.
Having drawn 1-1 in Greece in March against Olympiacos, Wolverhampton got an early lead via a Raul Jimenez penalty in the second leg at the Molineux – then had to withstand some strong pressure from the Greek side.
The game ended fortuitously on a 2-1 aggregate for the Wolves as Olympiakos had a goal narrowly ruled out offside and their striker Ahmed Hassan missed a header from close-range late in the game.
Form-wise, Wolverhampton have nothing to write home about. Coach Nuno Santo's side who looked so convincing for most of the Premier league season ended it on a sour note, losing to Arsenal, Sheffield United and Chelsea after returning from the pandemic break.

Regular left-back Jonny Castro Otto is ruled out for the rest of the year thanks to a ruptured ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament).
Young Portuguese full-back Ruben Vinagre will most likely deputize for Jonny and will be joined by the likes of Willy Boly, Conor Coady and Romain Saiss in the defense. Further, with the solid presence of Rui Patricio between the posts, the Wolves' look strong at the back.
Coach Julen Lopetegui has a fairly healthy squad and is expected to go with the same team they fielded against Roma.
The only change could be in the goalkeeper's position where first-choice custodian Tomas Vaclik has returned from injury but wasn't fit enough to start the match against Roma.
If Vaclik isn't fit for the Duisburg clash, then Lopetgui has no choice but to continue with Yassine Bounou. Sevilla's strength lies in their star full-backs Jesus Navas and Sergio Reguilon.
The very impressive Ever Banega will be pulling the strings in midfield while the likes of Jesus Fernandez Saez, Munir El Haddadi, Youssef En-Nesyri and Lucas Ocampos will comprise the Sevilla attack.
The Andalusians are miserly at the back, conceding just five goals in 12 games since the season restarted in June.
Five wins from their final six La Liga matches saw Los Rojiblancos end up in the Top Four of the La Liga and on equal points with third-placed Atletico Madrid and that itself is a pointer to the kind of form they are in.
The conclusion is that the Sevilla won't be particularly bothered by the Wolves at Duisburg on the 11th and look the firm favorites to make it through to the semis.
