Naval Light looks capable of completing a hat-trick after showing marked improvement since entering handicap company. He has always promised plenty, including smart maiden form at this meeting last year, and has now put everything together with back-to-back victories at Pontefract and Catterick.

The step up to a competitive Class 2 is tougher, but his progressive profile, light weight and the useful 3lb claim of Jack Nicholls make him look well treated. K R Burke's yard is also operating at a healthy strike-rate, adding further confidence.

We're Goosers is arguably the biggest threat. Prior to disappointing in the Britannia, he had looked a rapidly improving 7f performer, winning impressively at Newmarket. Being gelded since Royal Ascot could easily bring further improvement, and Oisin Murphy is an eye-catching booking if he bounces back.

Ironwill arrives in excellent form after narrowly landing a strong Newmarket handicap over this trip. His Topspeed figure is among the best in the field and he remains open to further progress despite a 4lb rise.

Wild Desert is the class horse on paper, having competed in Group company as a juvenile, but must concede weight all round on his handicap debut after an underwhelming seasonal return.

Ghost Mode has plenty of ability and shaped better than the bare result at Newmarket last time, while Marengo Storm is another improving type who shouldn't be underestimated after winning at Newmarket.

Value Angle

Ironwill appeals most at each-way odds. His recent Newmarket victory was achieved in solid fashion, he handles quick ground well, and another forward step would see him heavily involved.
