Updated 2020 College Basketball Championship Odds – June 3rd Edition
Odds to Win 2020 NCAAB National Championship
- Duke +650
- Kentucky +700
- Virginia +700
- Michigan State +800
- Michigan +1200
- North Carolina +1200
- Gonzaga +1400
- Villanova +1400
Duke
Despite losing sure-fire No. 1 overall draft pick Zion Williamson and a trio of other future NBA performers in RJ Barrett, Cam Reddish and Marques Bolden, the Blue Devils remain prohibitive favorites because of the returns of Tre Jones and Javin.
Kentucky
The Wildcats lost some elite talent, but Kentucky, as usual under head coach John Calipari, is back with another loaded roster that includes the additions of new arrivals, like five-star recruits Kahlil Whitney, Tyrese Maxey and Kelon Brooks as well as Johnny Juzang, Dontale Allen and former Bucknell transfer Nate Sestina.
Virginia
The defending national champs lost four players that could all be playing in the NBA come next season in De’Andre Hunter, Kyle Guy, Ty Jerome and Jack Salt. If returning players like Mamadi Diakite, Braxton Key, Kihei Clark and Jay Huff take big steps forward in 2019-20, the Cavs could surprise again because of their phenomenal defense.
Michigan State
All-American point guard Cassius Winston is back as is forward Joshua Langford and Xavier Tillman. Marquette transfer Joey Hauser is expected to contribute in a big way this coming season as are five-star recruit Malik Hall, Rocket Watts and Julius Marble.
Michigan
The Wolverines lost key contributors Charles Matthews, Jordan Poole and to a lesser degree, Ignas Brazdeikis from last season’s team. Not only that, but Michigan will have a new head coach in former school standout Juwan Howard with former head coach John Beilein off to the NBA to take over as the head man of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The good news is that point guard Zavier Simpson, power forward Isaiah Livers and center Jon Teske all return to give Howard some excellent talent to start his new position with.
The Rest of the Pack
North Carolina is a 12-1 pick while both, Gonzaga and Villanova are identical 14-1 picks. The Tar Heels lost likely NBA performers in Cam Johnson, Luke Maye and Nasir Little, but Roy Williams has a nice recruiting class coming in, starting with five-star recruits Cole Anthony, and Armando Bacot and Charleston Southern transfer Christian Keeling, a player that averaged at least 17 points per game in three straight seasons.
Villanova lost key performers Eric Paschall and Phil Booth while five-star recruit Jahvon Quinerly transferred to Alabama. Still, head coach jay Wright has a loaded roster with blue chip recruits like Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Bryan Antoine, Justin Moore, Eric Dixon.
Gonzaga lost future NBA performer Rui Hachimura, along with key contributors like Brandon Clarke, Josh Perkins, Zach Norvell and Geno Crandall, but head coach Mark Few has an elite star returning in Killian Tillie and a system that has proven it can allow the Zags to play with any team in the nation.
