Nick Luck Racing Preview – Saturday 15th December 2018

Updated: 11/12/2024

Cheltenham 1.55 – Baron Alco

You’ve got to be good to do the Nov/Dec Cheltenham double, but I think Baron Alco’s exceptional display of front running has been underestimated. He goes on soft if the rain comes, is equally effective on the New Course and can go very close again here.

Cheltenham 2.30 – Supremely Lucky

You can make a pretty strong case that his Southwell win is the strongest recent form in the race given what the 2nd and 3rd have achieved subsequently. In addition, his stamina seems guaranteed.

Cheltenham 3.05 – Vision des Flos

A very fine sixth in the Ballymore off a stop-start season before two excellent runs at Aintree and Punchestown, this horse may yet be more effective at this shorter trip. He finished in front of Summerville Boy at Newcastle and, while that horse is almost certain to improve, Vision des Flos is three times the price.

Cheltenham 3.40 – Definitelyanoscar

She needs to improve a bit, even off what looks a perfectly fair opening handicap mark, but she’s been campaigned at a trip shy of this and can improve significantly now handicapping and up in distance. She won’t mind any rain that falls.

Doncaster 1.35 – Rocky’s Treasure

A fine effort when second to Santini at Newbury and, while his market rival won a decent race at Ascot last time, he should just have the edge on that form.

Doncaster 2.45 – Cracker Factory

He’s got a little to find on Quel Destin on their running at Cheltenham, but there’s every chance this speed favouring track may suit him a little better.
