Nick Luck Previews Day One of The November Meeting 2018
Updated: 11/12/2024
Some top class jump racing to look forward to over the next three days as The November Meeting at Cheltenham gets under way and BetBright’s Racing Ambassador, Nick Luck, gives us his selections for Day One!
Cheltenham 1.50 – A Hare Breath 10/3
A Hare Breath is very low mileage for his age and hasn’t run over fences since last year’s Arkle. He is looking dangerously well handicapped now, runs extremely well fresh, will find the ground to his liking and is pretty effective at this venue. He looks to have been found a lovely opportunity to outclass the opposition in what is a relatively un-competitive race for the track.
Cheltenham 2.25 – White Moon 5/2
This is a cracking race. Mr Whipped sets the standard on hurdling form, but it’s not insurmountable. Count Meribel must concede a penalty to plenty of useful horses, among whom White Moon makes most appeal. Not seen since a high profile flop at Sandown last winter when clearly amiss, he had previously spanked two mid-120s horses at Exeter when barely coming off the bridle. His stable could hardly be in better form and, for all this is a tough debut over fences, he is of great interest, particularly with the possible benefit of a wind op.
Cheltenham 3.00 – Bless the Wings 5/1
A more interesting edition than usual courtesy of Grand National and Triple Festival winner Tiger Roll. He’s so tough he could easily figure, but he might struggle to concede 7 pounds on this lively ground to stablemate Bless the Wings, who has a fine record on this cross country course and loves it when the surface is good. He might be getting on a bit, but he looked to have plenty of enthusiasm in tact when last seen.
Cheltenham 3.35 – Coolanly 7/2
He’s a high risk proposition, but Coolanly can now show the benefit of experience at a very high level. The best of his form came behind Lalor in the big novice hurdle at Aintree, when he stayed on very nicely into fifth. This greater test of stamina should suit well, and he can make amends for an early fall at Chepstow last time.
