McIlroy happy with his game

Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy says his game is in good shape after a second-place finish in the first WGC event of the season, the Mexico Championship, as the build up to the Masters 2019 continues (McIlroy 11/1 Masters Outright).
McIlroy moved up to sixth in the world rankings with his second-placed finish, five shots behind winner Dustin Johnson, while Justin Rose remains the number one golfer in the world.
The second spot shows that the 29-year-old is getting his game back under control, rather than having a great round followed by a poor one, and he is now showing more consistency with four top-five finishes in a row on the PGA Tour.
“It was a good tournament for me,” reflected McIlroy.
“Some weeks you play well and someone just plays better. Whenever you drive the ball like DJ and you’re number one in putting it’s going to be hard to beat that.
“I played well. I was a little disappointed with how I started but fought back well on the back nine.
“My game has been good, really solid. I’m really happy with everything and just need to stay patient and look at the positives.
“I need to get into positions to challenge and sooner or later things can go my way.”
McIlroy may get things going his way in two weeks’ time when he will be defending his Arnold Palmer Invitational title at Bay Hill, which was his last triumph on the PGA tour.
The Northern Irishman, like the rest of the world’s top golfers, is building up to the first major of the year when they all head to Augusta in April.
Dustin Johnson (10/1) may well be the man to beat again but Rose (12/1) will challenge and Tiger Woods (14/1) will be hoping to challenge.
Odds subject to change.
