World number four Rory McIlroy (8/1f – 2019 Masters Outright) says he is feeling confident ahead of the 2019 Masters after landing his 15th PGA Tour title at The Players Championship on Sunday evening.

Northern Irishman McIlroy managed to win the unofficial fifth Major for the first time after carding a two-under-par 70 for his final round to finish the tournament on -16, one-shot clear of American Jim Furyk.

The 29-year-old showed fantastic composure to recover from a double-bogey at the fourth hole and the win has boosted his confidence-levels massively ahead of the event at Augusta National next month.

McIlroy is one of the most in-form players in the world right now, with his 2019 results reading T4-T5-T4-2-T6-1, and this could be the year he joins an elite list of players to have completed the Grand Slam.

The four-time Major winner believes there are similarities to last week’s TPC Sawgrass course and Augusta National, and he is hoping this can play into his advantage when he goes for the coveted Green Jacket.

“If I hadn’t have won today, I would have said I don’t need a win going into Augusta, but it’s very nice to get a win, especially doing it on this golf course,” McIlroy was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “Honestly a golf course that will play a little bit similar to the way Augusta will play in a few weeks’ time.

“So I can take a lot from this. It’s taken me a few weeks to get to this point but I’m playing some of the best golf of my life right now and I just need to keep going with it and keep doing the same things.”

World number one Dustin Johnson is second in the Masters market at 10/1 while Justin Rose and Justin Thomas are both priced at 14/1 to triumph in Georgia for the first time.

Defending champion Patrick Reed, who is aiming to become the first player since Tiger Woods in 2002 to retain the title, is a 40/1 chance.

Odds subject to change.
