Kuchar To Maintain Aggressive Approach

Sony Open leader Matt Kuchar insists he will be trying to extend his advantage in Hawaii rather than “coast” through his final round.
American Matt Kuchar insists he must go out and attack his final round at the Sony Open despite having opened up a two-shot lead on Saturday (Kuchar 1/2 fav Sony Open Outright).
The 40-year-old remains the man to beat in Hawaii after another solid round at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.
Kuchar has only dropped one shot in 54 holes so far this week and his third round of 66 put him in control ahead of the final round on Sunday. He will start in the final group on 18-under par, two clear of fellow countryman Andrew Putnam (3/1 Outright), who birdied the last to stay in contention.
Keith Mitchell (63) and Chez Reavie (66) are four strokes off the pace going into Sunday’s action, while the likes of Bryson DeChambeau (40/1 Outright), Davis Love III, Charles Howell III and Marc Leishman are seven behind in a share of fifth.
Kuchar admits he is wary of the chasers, with the course well known for low scores, but he is looking to attack from the off himself.
He told PGA Tour: “I anticipate needing to shoot another good score tomorrow. I’m going to need to make birdies.
“There are enough birdie holes out there and enough good players that I know that I can’t just coast. I need to continue playing well. The goal is to increase the lead as much as you can.
“I know the guys are playing good enough. I played with Andrew today. He’s a very steady player. He’s a good fit around this golf course. I expect him to come out and play some more good golf tomorrow.”
