Koepka relishing Woods showdown – Betfred Blog

A confident Brooks Koepka insists he is not scared of facing Tiger Woods at the US PGA Championship and feels he can go on to win at least 10 majors in his career (Koepka 10/1 fav Outright Betting).

Koepka, 29, will tee it up at Bethpage Black as the defending champion, having secured his third major when beating Woods (13/1) by two strokes in August last year.

He also claimed the 2017 and 2018 US Open titles and is ranked third in the world behind Dustin Johnson (11/1) and Justin Rose (20/1).

The former European Tour player has yet to win this season but did finish second in the Masters and the Honda Classic while he has another couple of top-10s under his belt as well.

Woods will be gunning for his 16th major this week while Koepka seeks number four and the Florida resident sees no reason why he should not add many more big four titles to his CV before hanging up his clubs.

“I don’t see why you can’t get to double digits,” he told reporters. “I think sometimes the majors are the easiest ones to win. Half the people shoot themselves out of it and mentally I know I can beat most of them.

“Then from there, it’s those guys left and who’s going to play good and who can win. I don’t see any reason it can’t get to double digits.”

The big-hitting Ryder Cup ace has been grouped with Woods and Open champion Francesco Molinari for the first two rounds in Long Island this week (Koepka 6/4, Woods 6/4, Molinari 12/5 – 3 Ball Betting).

It was suggested that he might be intimidated by walking the course with one of the greatest of all time but Koepka made it clear that is not the case.

“I mean, what’s the point in fearing anybody. We’re not fighting,” he added. “He’s not going to knock my teeth in. He’s not going to hurt me. So what’s there to be afraid of?”
