Kaymer leads the way at Memorial Tournament - (2026)

Martin Kaymer will take a two-shot lead into the final round of the Memorial Tournament as he bids to claim his first title in five years.

Kaymer, who is 15/8 to win the tournament outright, headed into the weekend at Muirfield Village Golf Club holding a share of the lead, but a bogey-free round of 66 that included six birdies was enough to propel him into the outright lead on 15-under-par.

The 34-year-old is looking to win his first title on either the European or PGA Tour since his US Open success in 2014 and feels his game is in good shape heading into what could be an exciting final round.

“I really enjoy playing this golf course,” Kaymer told Sky Sports. “I hit a lot fairways, my short game is where it should be and I think it’ll be an exciting Sunday.”

“Tomorrow is playing brave, playing the way I can play, enjoying the capability of my game. Everything is there. I don’t need to hold back with anything. I don’t need to be afraid of something that could happen. I just look forward to whatever happens tomorrow.”

Australian Adam Scott (11/4) is Kaymer’s nearest rival, as he sits two shot behind the German on 13-under after also carding a third-round score of 66.

A group of three players, Jordan Spieth (15/2), Patrick Cantlay (6/1) and Hideki Matsuyama (15/2) are two shots further back – the latter propelling himself into contention after posting a round of the day score of 64.

However, Justin Rose’s chances of claiming overall glory now appear to be over, as he could only follow up his second-round score of 63 with a 71 on Saturday that leaves him eight shots off the lead.

Tiger Woods also seems out of contention, as a two-under-par round of 70 leaves him 11 shots off the pace.
