11/1 Fowler is ‘really close’ to peak form

Rickie Fowler claims his game is “really close” to being back to its best as he heads into this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic (11/1 Outright) in Detroit on the back of a disappointing US Open challenge.
The 30-year-old American has shown glimpses of his top form in 2019, highlighted by his two-stroke victory in the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February.
A tied fourth-place at the Masters in April suggested that Fowler would challenge for a first major success of his career going into the PGA Championship in May on the back of consecutive top-10 finishes (11/10 Top-10 Finish – Rocket Mortgage Classic) ahead of it.
However, he finished tied for 36th on six-over-par for the tournament at Bethpage Black and followed that up with a missed cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge the following weekend.
Fowler’s most recent outing was his 43rd place finish in the US Open at Pebble Beach a fortnight ago, but he is feeling in good shape as he targets a win in the PGA Tour’s inaugural Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Speaking after he topped the leaderboard alongside Kid Rock in Wednesday’s Pro-Am, Fowler, who is currently 10th in the FedEx Cup standings, said: “I was a little off on the game I feel like PGA (Championship), Colonial time. Didn’t have many putts go in at the US Open.
“I feel like everything’s really close to being back where it was. You don’t want to just kind of coast to the finish line, you want to finish the race off hopefully with a really high note.”
