Tottenham’s hopes of winning silverware this season have been hit by news that star striker Harry Kane could be missing for at least 10 games through injury (Spurs 7/1 FA Cup Outright).

Mauricio Pochettino’s first XI has always been packed with quality but the lack of cover for Kane over the years has been a problem and could prove to be a big issue once again.

The likes of Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen, both of whom have been linked with a January exit, have been unable to step up to the plate on the occasions when Kane has been missing, and Pochettino now faces a huge headache for the next couple of months.

Kane suffered the ankle injury during the final stages of Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday and Pochettino admitted after the game he was worried.

Those fears have now been confirmed after Spurs issued a statement saying the England ace will only return to training in March.

“Following preliminary assessments, we can confirm that Harry Kane has damaged ligaments in his left ankle, sustained during Sunday’s match against Manchester United,” it read.

“The striker will continue to be monitored by our medical staff as he commences rehabilitation and is expected to return to training in early March.”

Kane has vowed to return stronger than ever but is now set to miss the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea, which Spurs lead 1-0, as well as the Champions League last-16 double-header against Borussia Dortmund (Spurs 25/1 Champions League Outright).

Spurs will also be missing their star man for at least six scheduled Premier League matches, as they attempt to close the nine-point gap on leaders Liverpool, and Daniel Levy may now have to somehow try and relax the purse strings so suitable cover can be brought in.
