As hard as it is to avoid dubbing Wales a one-man team, it's vital to their chances of progression that Gareth Bale has the game of his life against bottom-of-the-table Russia on Monday evening.

Before the tournament started, Wales boss Chris Coleman would have targeted emerging from a tough group as a superb achievement, and after their great win against Slovakia and hard-fought defeat to England, Wales can probably progress with a point against Russia.

Two-goal Bale, who has scored both his goals with long range free-kicks, will fancy his chances against a Russian team who conceded an Eric Dier free-kick in their first game with England from exactly the sort of position the Real Madrid man loves.

Russia actually go into this game as slight favourites, they're a general 13/8 to win, with Wales best-priced at 2/1 with Stan James. The draw is 23/10 at Ladbrokes.

Wales have enough in their locker to get past an unimpressive Russian side and that Welsh win is fancied. But it won't be easy. Both teams have scored in all four Group B games and there is nothing to suggest that won't continue, so take the 11/10 with Paddy Power that both teams score.

Wales won their first game 2-1 and lost their second 2-1, so they are clearly good value to both score and concede.

That 2-1 score is fancied again at a generally available 11/1.

Although Wales have only played well in patches, Russia have offered very little up front and main threat Artem Dzyuba has looked anything but the pre-tournament contender to win the a Golden Boot.

And so it's with that man Bale where the real interest in this game is. The Real Madrid ace has improved so much in the last three seasons in Spain, adding two Champions League winners medals in that time.
He is the one global star on show in Toulouse and this is his stage to step up and lead his side into the knockout phase.

Take Bale at a tempting 8/5 to score at anytime and consider the 8/1 on the former Tottenham man to score twice in this match.

Bale has scored at least twice in the same game for Real Madrid this season and also helped himself to a brace for his country during qualifying against Israel last year so has done it before.
