Real Madrid vs Manchester United Prediction
Champions League
Kick off time: Wednesday 13th February 7.45pm
Manchester United travel to the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday evening to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first leg. When it comes to big matches in Europe's elite club competition, this takes some beating as it sees two of the most famous clubs in the world lock horns.
Also, Jose Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson have the chance to go up against each other once more and with the battles they had when Mourinho was at Chelsea, it is tough to see anything other than a classic.
With this being the first leg, Real will be looking to do all they can to take a substantial lead to Old Trafford with them, whereas United are sure to try and remain solid at the back and grab an important away goal.
Cristiano Ronaldo is going to be the man that all eyes are on and that is no surprise given his talent and the fact that this is the first time he has gone up against his former employers since leaving in 2009.
The Portuguese comes into Wednesday's match on the back of a stunning hat-trick against Sevilla and make no doubt about it – United will be wary of the form he is in.
There is big pressure on the La Liga champions here as they are not going to retain their Spanish crown, so the fans will see becoming Champions of Europe as the only way to make up for a poor domestic campaign.
Sir Alex Ferguson brings a side full of confidence to the capital of Spain as they sit twelve points clear at the top of the Premier League.
They also haven't lost in all competitions since the defeat to CFR Cluj in the group stages of the Champions League and in that game, Ferguson had a weakened side out as his men had already qualified for the knockout stages.
This is a massive test for the Red Devils though and they know it doesn't get any tougher than taking on Real Madrid in the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo might be the best player on the pitch, but United have Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, who are up there with the best strike partnerships in the world. They have to be clinical in Madrid on Wednesday and take any chances presented to them.
It is all set for a scintillating 90 minutes of action and in the end, Real might take a healthy lead to Manchester with them.
United will grab that all important away goal though and this will finish in a 3-1 win for Jose Mourinho's team.
