After a strong start to their European campaign, enjoying a brief spell at the top of the group, Rangers now find themselves third in Europa League Group G.
Having lost only one match, the future of Steven Gerrard‘s side is in their own hands as they travel to Austria to face Rapid Vienna.

Rangers won the home fixture in the group 3-1, a comeback helped along by a late brace from striker Alfredo Morelos.
They need to secure another three points in Austria to reach the latter stages of the competition, but the results of the other match will affect whether they do so as winners or as runners up.

It's pretty straightforward, and Rangers can decide their own fate against Rapid Vienna. with a win. However, the Villarreal fixture against Spartak Moscow will decide their position in that eventuality.
If Villarreal win:
Villarreal will top the group, and Rangers need to beat Rapid Vienna to go through as runners up.
If Villarreal draw or lose:

Rangers need to beat Rapid Vienna to go through, regardless of the result in the other match. However, if Villarreal slip up against Spartak, Rangers can also go through as the group winners, gaining a possibly favourable draw in the last 32.
The Europa league last 32 draw will take place at 12pm, Monday 17 December at Uefa's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
