Man United go marching on

The FA Cup took centre-stage this weekend as a host of lower-league club stepped up to the mark.
Our round-up also includes England’s first test in the West Indies, The Farmers Insurance Open and the Australian Open.
But we begin with the big game at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night…
Ole! Ole! Ole! Man United shoot down the Gunners
We may have called this could happen last week – but Manchester United bagged their eighth straight win under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Arsenal on Friday.
A quick-fire first half double from Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard left Arsenal in a spin. It had many on social media likening the Emirates Stadium to a dancefloor – after Lingard’s ‘moonwalk’ celebration.
An Anthony Martial strike sealed a 3-1 win for the Red Devils. Former boss Jose Mourinho seems nothing but an afterthought under the Solskjaer revolution.
Cupsets galore were dish of the day
There are some who believe the FA Cup has lost its magic and tradition, but this weekend proved it still has its charm.
Newport County and Shrewsbury Town grabbed replays with Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
J-Lingz may have been dancing on Friday but Everton and West Ham United seemed to catch Saturday night fever the following evening.
Millwall were roared on at the Den and bagged a last-gasp winner as the Toffees came unstuck.
That was followed by a remarkable 4-2 win for League Two AFC Wimbledon over Premier League West Ham.
Scenes!
But in the battle of the Bees will Barnet sting Brentford tonight?
England all at sea in the West Indies
England’s cricketers may have been enjoying a jaunt around Barbados, but they were left floundering after a 381-run defeat to West Indies in the first test.
Windies part-time off-spinner Roston Chase joined an illustrious list of Michael Holding, Shane Warne and Stuart Broad to pick up eight-wicket bowling figures in Test history.
The equation for the tourists is simple – they must win the remaining two Tests to claim only their second series victory in the Caribbean in 51 years.
A quick recovery with the bat is vital in Antigua from Thursday.
Rose blossoms at Farmers Open
World-number one Justin Rose beat a pack including Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott to hole his first win of 2019 at the Farmers International Open.
He bogeyed the first but recovered that shot with a birdie on the third. Another two birdies on the seventh and ninth holes ensured he went into the back nine full of confidence.
He sealed a two-shot victory over Scott to grab his first Tour win in January since 2002.
That’s one way to hold your nerve.
Osaka and Djokovic take the honours Down Under
The Australian Open came to a close at the weekend with two big finals that didn’t flatter to deceive.
First up was Naomi Osaka’s win over Petra Kvitova on the Rod Laver Arena on Saturday.
After losing the second set to make it one apiece, Osaka channelled her ‘robot’ mode to seal back-to-back major titles after her US Open win last year.
Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal was the star-studded men’s final on Sunday.
Nadal hadn’t dropped a set all tournament but Djokovic swept the Spaniard aside 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 to triumph in Melbourne.
