Bayern Munich vs. VfB Stuttgart
Sunday, January 27, 14:30
Bayern kicked off the second half of the season the way they ended the first half: scoring goals, winning games and looking absolutely determined to chase down Dortmund.
They could — should, in fact — be nine points behind the leaders by the time they kick off on Sunday, so another functional and win-at-any-cost performance is likely on the agenda.
As predicted in last week’s column, Kingsley Coman will play a big part and did so last time out — but Leon Goretzka’s star showing was as unexpected as it was impressive.
Stuttgart have lost three in a row and sit in the relegation play-off spot, but the consolation here for them is that the teams around them, namely Augsburg and Hannover, should have already suffered defeat ahead of this match.
A fourth defeat won’t be great for VfB, but there isn’t likely much they can do about it other than try to keep the scoreline respectable.
