Everton v Manchester United Preview at the Goodison Park – December 4, 2016 – 16:00 hrs.
Score Predictions and Everton v Manchester United Preview
The run of bad form for both Everton and Manchester United continues. While the Toffees succumbed to Southampton 0-1 and United drew 1-1 with a 16th ranked West Ham. Only one point seperates these two when they meet at Goodison Park on Sunday in a morale-testing clash. United are on the 6th spot with 19 points from their 13 games and Everton at 18 from an equal number of outings.
For United, Pogba and Fellaini look set to come back after a one-match suspension. Marcos Rojo could be back and combine with Carrick in the middle. The re-entry of these United regulars could result in the exit of the talented defensive mid-fielder, 18-year old Timothy Fosu-Mensah, for the Goodison Park showdown. The upfront combination of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Juan Mata, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rooney seems to be working well and the case for the re-introduction of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial doesn't seem to hold good for the moment. Mourinho may even go for Bastian Schweinsteiger for the Sunday clash, but who will he replace is not sure.
For Everton, the back line comprising of stalwarts like Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka and Phil Williams have proved to be no-shows. The Toffeees have leaked in an astonishing 12 goals in their last 8 outings and it's no wonder that they have manged to win just one of those eight games. Romelu Lukakau is not even a shadow of his former goal-scoring self and hasn't found the back in his last 9 games. He will seriously need to fire in the Sunday clash along with the likes of Yannick Bolasie and Ross Barkley if the Toffees are contemplating of getting back into reckoning in the current 2016-17 season.
Manchester United have won all of their three previous outings with the Toffees which includes two at Goodison Park itself. Bookies are therefore wagering on a Manchester United win on December 4 despite the poor recent forms of both teams.
