England v Slovakia Predictions sees Sturridge to score first

England v Slovakia Predictions and preview by Dexter. 

Last minute drama kings England can win Group B in Monday night's Saint Etienne showdown and are well fancied to see past a hard and physical Slovakia at a widely available 4/5 with most bookies.

After the stoppage time heartache of letting in a late equaliser against Russia, Roy Hodgson's Three Lions turned a draw into three points against Wales with a late, late Daniel Sturridge goal.

Sturridge and fellow goalscorer Jamie Vardy are fancied to start against Slovakia and are both fancied to get on the scoresheet. Sturridge's last two England goals have come in finals tournaments and take him at 9/2 to open the scoring. Vardy is 15/8 to score anytime and given the way Slovakia conceded Hal Robson Kanu's winner for Wales in their opening games, they are hardly a resolute side at the back.

Sturridge will know all about his Liverpool team mate Martin Skrtel who will certainly give him a physical workout. Slovakian skipper check Skrtel was lucky to stay on the pitch against Wales and is highly fancied to pick up a booking in this game. Slovakia are an uncompromising team and could struggle to contain the pace of Vardy and, perhaps later in the game, Marcus Rashford.

A penalty is always likely when pace meets brute force in the penalty area and Betfair go 15/4 that a penalty is awarded.

Group B has been good for goals. In all four games both teams have scored and three of the four games have seen over 2.5 goals.

Adding further weight to the chance of seeing plenty of goals is Roy Hodgson's selection process of playing multiple strikers. Rather than set up with a restricted one man up front, Hodgson has no fears in playing two strikers, a deeply-deployed Wayne Rooney and wingers who know where the goal is.

Both teams to score is 4/5 and over 2.5 goals is 6/5. For a correct score, the 16/1 about a 3-1 England win sounds good, particularly as England seem to have really clicked going forwards but are alway likely to concede.

Slovakia do have a goal threat and Marek Hamsik, who was on target against Russia is fancied to get on the scoresheet as well at 4/1. England keeper Joe Hart has been at fault for both goals that England have conceded so far and the simple 8/13 on Slovakia to score should also be considered.
