Awesome Aguero to give Sarri the blues? - (2025)

The Premier League title race could be set for another huge twist this afternoon, as Manchester City welcome Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s men suffered their first league defeat of the season to the Blues back in December. Can they right that wrong today and keep pace with Liverpool at the top?
Or will Chelsea enhance their Champions League credentials by completing the double over the champions? We’re all set for a rip-roaring Sunday afternoon encounter.
Match Odds
Defeat to Newcastle United the other week could’ve derailed City’s title charge. But the Sky Blues have responded with two straight wins in the Premier League.
They’ve collected a full quota of points from all but one of their top-flight matches at the Etihad this term and are 1/2 to do so again here.
Likewise, City to Win and Over 2.5 Goals is 11/10 to land for the 13th time in 15 home matches this term, with a 2-1 scoreline priced at 7/1.
Chelsea are out at 11/2 for their third Etihad win in just over a decade, with the draw out at 10/3.
Talking Tactics
Guardiola’s men may have won their last two matches but there have been undoubted chinks in their armoury. Gonzalo Higuain and Eden Hazard will need to be on form to capitalise.
City have also shown a tendency to concede from crosses and set-pieces. So Maurizio Sarri will be hoping to utilise the delivery of Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso on either side.
Chelsea’s problem could be in the midfield. With N’Golo Kante still playing further forward, Jorginho will need to step up his performance big time to compete with Fernandinho.
If he doesn’t, then City could get plenty of joy with their creative minds feeding the triumvirate of Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero.
The latter of the trio has been in sensational form of late and will be eager to make amends after missing the defeat at Stamford Bridge in December.
Goalscorer Odds
Aguero is the go-to-guy against Chelsea. Not only is he the Premier League’s third-top scorer this season, he’s also netted seven goals in his last six matches against the Blues.
We have him down at 4/6 anytime or 3/1 to bag 2 or more. Wingers Sane and Sterling are available at 17/10 and 8/5, with Aymeric Laporte 17/2 for his second goal in as many matches.
The visitors will look towards Higuain after the loan star bagged a brace against Huddersfield Town last week. Our traders have him down as a 23/10 shot – the same price as Hazard.
As we pointed out above, City’s defence has shown vulnerability against crosses in recent weeks. With that in mind, David Luiz is priced up at 14/1 to make his mark.
