Bundesliga Preview: Can Dortmund keep their winning run going?
Updated: 12/12/2024
Odds and tips for this weekend’s action in Germany
The Bundesliga returns this weekend after an action-packed few days of European football.
After thrashing Atletico Madrid 4-0, table-toppers Borussia Dortmund will want to maintain their three-point lead against sixth-placed Hertha Berlin. Bayern Munich will be looking to close the gap when they travel to Mainz 05.
We’ve previewed those two games, as well as a selection of the top-flight’s other tasty games, right here…
Borussia Dortmund v Hertha Berlin
Dortmund are in red-hot form. They’ve won seven games in a row under Lucien Favre, scoring at least three goals in every game during that run.
The visitors are in decent form themselves, having only lost one league game so far. But Dortmund look capable of beating anyone right now. The hosts are 2/5 to get yet another win.
One of the most impressive things about Favre’s team is how they keep going until the final whistle. They’ve bagged 11 goals in the 80th minute or later in their last six games. It’s 3/1 that the second half produces the most goals here.
In terms of who’ll get those goals, Marco Reus is 7/2 to break the deadlock, with Jadon Sancho 15/8 to score anytime.
Mainz v Bayern Munich
After a recent wobble, Bayern appear to be back on track with two successive wins. Mainz could be ideal opponents as they look to build some momentum.
Rouven Schroder’s side have only won one game since August. They conceded six goals without reply against the champions last season and have scored just four goals so far this term.
A Bayern win to nil is at Evens. You can get the champions on the +2 Handicap at 17/10 too.
Best of the rest
Second-placed Borussia Monchengladbach are 23/20 to maintain their recent winning run against Freiburg on Friday night.
It’s 13/10 that Wolfsburg end their six-game winless streak against bottom-of-the-table Fortuna Dusseldorf, while Hoffenheim are a 6/10 shot to pile more misery on VfB Stuttgart.
