Cardinals, Giants and Redskins battling for QBs - (2026)

With the drama of the NFL draft soon upon us, franchises are ready to jostle to see who can snap up the next big star of the game.
Kyler Murray (Oklahoma), Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State), Drew Lock (Missouri) and Daniel Jones (Duke) have emerged as the top talent at quarterback to come through the college game.
There have been some great battles for quarterbacks in recent years, with the scrap for Jared Goff and Carson Wentz in 2016 standing out.
Both Goff and Wentz have helped change the fortunes of their franchises, the LA Rams (10/1 – Super Bowl Outright) and Philadelphia Eagles respectively, taking them to Super Bowls in the last two years and one team will be looking for the next playmaker to do the same.
Going into Thursday’s first round draft, it is the Cardinals who are holding all the aces as they have the number one overall pick. Arizona did pick up UCLA QB Josh Rosen last year, so they do have a fresh playmaker waiting in the wings.
However, reports have suggested they could be tempted to make a move for a player from the newest crop of quarterback talent.
Murray (2/9f – 1st Overall Pick) has been tipped for the top and, although on the small side, the scrabbling QB could be the man for the Cardinals with new head coach Cliff Kingsbury understood to be a big fan.
As for the Redskins and the Giants, they will be looking more to the likes of Haskins, Lock and Jones – if indeed Murray (13/2 – 2nd Overall Pick) gets snapped up first.
Washington require a replacement for the injured Alex Smith, while the Giants could look to boyhood fan Haskins as the man to take the franchise back to the top after some disappointing years.
Odds subject to change.
