After impressive wins for both Tiger Roll & Clan des Obeaux over the weekend, we look at the big market movers in the Cheltenham Festival betting – with just 3 weeks to go!
Firstly, we must begin with Clan des Obeaux (above) who bolted up in the Denman Chase at Ascot. The King George VI winner was still on the bridle two out and sprinted away from Terrefort in the final furlong. The seven-year-old is now 4/1 (from 8/1) to give Paul Nicholls his fifth Gold Cup victory.

Tiger Roll (above) was also visually very impressive over the weekend and hacked up in the Boyne Hurdle at Navan. The 2018 Grand National winner eased clear from Off You Go at the finish and has now been cut to 6/5 (from 2/1) for the Cross Country Chase. The Gordon Elliott trained gelding has also been cut to 12/1 (from 20/1) to become the first horse since Red Rum to win the Grand National two years running.
Anibale Fly who finished fourth behind Tiger Roll in the Grand National last year, has also been cut for the Gold Cup, 16/1 (from 25/1) after finishing second behind Monalee in the Red Mills Chase at the weekend. The victor of the Grade 2 has been cut to 5/1 (from 7/1) for the Ryanair Chase on the penultimate day of the Festival.

One of the most eye-catching performances of the weekend was produced by Al Dancer (above) who displayed a great turn of foot to win the Grade 3 Betfair Hurdle at Ascot. The six-year-old is now the 7/2 (from 10/1) favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
Another mover in the Supreme market was Grand Sancy who won the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton and has been cut to 16/1 (from 33/1).

The Arkle was yet another race in which there was plenty of movement after Duc Des Genievres (above) stormed clear to win a Beginners Chase at Gowran Park by 15 lengths. Willie Mullins’ gelding is now 14/1 (from 25/1).
In what was something of a shock result, Glen Forsa thrashed Kalashnikov by 19 lengths, entering the Arkle picture in the process. The Mick Channon trained gelding is now into 8/1 (from 33/1) to win Grade 1 contest, whereas Amy Murphy’s six-year-old is out to 16/1 (from 5/1).
Mister Malarky won the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase and was immediately cut to 10/1 (from 16/1) for the Ultima Chase, a race which trainer Colin Tizzard won with Golden Chieftain back in 2013. The six-year-old also has an entry for the RSA and is 20/1 (from 40/1) for the Novices’ Chase.

Sent off as the 4/6 favourite in the Ludorum Juvenile Hurdle, Quel Destin (above, right) justified his short odds by running on strongly to win. The Paul Nicholls trained four-year-old is now 8/1 (from 12/1) for the Triumph Hurdle.
Dashel Drasher who is now 25/1 (from 50/1) halved in price for the Ballymore Novice Hurdle after holding on to win the Thames Materials Novices’ Hurdle at Ascot.
Rebecca Curtis’ Lisnagar Oscar was cut to 7/1 (from 10/1) for the Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle after a superb 10 length victory in the Grade 2 Albert Bartlett Prestige Novices’ Hurdle. The son of Oscar has now been placed in all five of his races.
After his narrow win in the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle, Sykes looks set to compete in the Grade 3 Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle at the Festival again. Having finished 21st in the race last season, trainer Nicky Martin will be hoping for better this year and he has been cut to 20/1 (from 33/1).
One of the most interesting horses to win over the weekend was Queenohearts who is now 14/1 (from 20/1) to win the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
Trained by Stuart Edmonds, the chestnut mare has now won four of her last five races.
Finally, with the road to the Cheltenham Festival shortening by the minute, Road To Rome firmly added himself into the Cheltenham picture by making all to win the Walrus Open Hunters’ Chase at Haydock, by an astonishing 34 lengths. The nine-year-old is now 7/1 (first show) to win the Foxhunter Challenge Cup Open Hunters Chase.
