Sandown 1.20 – Lithic

Lithic has crashed and burned a couple of times at Sandown, but has also run a couple of stormers here. This looks an easier race than the one in which he would have been placed in last time & the rider takes seven off an already fairly handicapped horse. Big chance.

Sandown 1.50 – Laurina

Seeing as though I like her Champion Hurdle claims, it would be folly to oppose her, even at incredibly short odds. Sensulano should follow her home.

Sandown 2.25 – Rathhill

It goes against every instinct to row in with a heavy favourite in a field full of potential improvers, but the stable’s depth in the division and the trainer’s regard for this horse are very compelling.

His performance at Newbury showed he both had pace and could cope with testing.

Sandown 3.00 – Theatre Guide

He’s a big price, but was a real class act not that long ago and has been cut a massive amount of slack by the handicapper. He went with just enough zip for a while last time to make me think there’s ability remaining to be competitive here.

Sandown 3.35 – Our Merlin

Last year’s runner-up faces nothing of Call Me Lord’s calibre this time around, and comes here in form and off a feasible mark given his loss of form at the end of last season.
