Walt was one of just three uncovered runners in the fifth leg of this afternoons Scoop6 when winning at 14/1 to give Sam Twiston-Davies another big race winner for the second successive Saturday.
It means £60,642 will start in the win fund ahead of next weekend’s action while the bonus fund currently sits at £73,571.
The afternoon got off to the best possible start for favourite backers as they landed the opening three legs. A quarter of all Scoop6 punters had chosen 7/2 market leader Erick le Rouge in the first followed by the well backed 15/8 favourite Highest Sun winning at Chepstow before the impressive success of 4/1 punters choice Fusil Raffles in the Adonis Hurdle meant 1893 units remained in the win fund at halfway.
Crosspark (12/1) got a narrow victory in the Eider Chase over 2017 winner Mysteree at Newcastle to whittle the remining tickets down to just 51 with two races to go before the Uncovered Walt won.
Totepool spokesman Matt Hulmes said “With favourites winning the opening three legs, we thought it was a case of how many winners of the Scoop6 this Saturday, but 12/1 and 14/1 winners back-to-back means we have an estimated £250k in combined funds next weekend.”
The place fund paid £493.10 and was won by 29 ticket holders.
