Monalee seeks Presenting Percy revenge - (2026)

Monalee (11/4 – To win Red Mills Chase) will be seeking revenge over Presenting Percy (4/5) when the two meet in the Grade 2 Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park on Saturday.
The Henry de Bromhead-trained eight-year-old finished a distant second to Presenting Percy in last year’s RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, but he will be looking to fare better this time around, with both horses set to head to Prestbury Park on the back of Saturday’s race.
Monalee does have his own proven pedigree following his Grade One victory at Leopardstown last season, while he finished second to Kemboy on his most recent run in the Savills Chase at the end of December.
The Barry Maloney-owned gelding had been due to run in the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown earlier this month, but De Bromhead chose instead to swerve that race and he feels his horse is now in good shape heading into this week’s run at Gowran Park.
“Monalee was declared to run in the Unibet Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown earlier this month, but we took him out as we thought the ground was too quick,” de Bromhead was quoted as saying by the Racing Post.
“He seems in good form and the plan is to run him in the Red Mills as we’re keen to get a run into him before Cheltenham.”
Monalee is in line to run in the Ryanair Chase at this year’s Festival, although a positive performance on Saturday could see him move into Gold Cup contention – a race that Presenting Percy is also fancied to do well in (Monalee 25/1 to win Gold Cup, Presenting Percy 11/4).
Odds subject to change.
