Racing insight from top jockey

The rain is certainly coming now, and because of that we are going to have some cracking racing in the weeks ahead.

I have some lovely horses to look forward to riding once the ground softens, and it was great to ride Kateson to victory during the week, the first of my big guns to come out.

There is plenty to look forward to starting this weekend.

Saturday – Aintree

2.10 – Un Temps Por Tout

It’s great to have Un Temps Pour Tout back on track. He’s had 18 months off and this is a race he’s won before so this is the ideal place to start before we decide where to go next.

He’s done plenty and seems really well but obviously he’s had a lot of time off. He will improve for the run but we couldn’t be happier with him.

He’s won twice at the Cheltenham Festival, he’s won a French Champion Hurdle, and he’s been an absolute legend, and he’s still got plenty more to offer.

3.55 – Corruption

He needs to step up on his one run last season. Hopefully he will have strengthened up and we can see an improved performance tomorrow.

Sunday – Ffos Las

1.25 – Remastered

His bumper form from last season has worked out really well. He beat Kateson of Tom Lacey’s which then went on to be second in the Aintree bumper before making an impressive hurdle debut this week.

On that form he would have a great chance, and he’s certainly one of the better horses that we have going novice hurdling. He’s a horse we think a lot of. He’s a horse I have been looking forward to riding this season.

Good Boy Bobby showed a good level of form last year too. Smith’s Cross is a real handy sort and will be worth following through the winter. I’m sure he’ll run well but whether he’s quite as good as Good Boy Bobby and Remastered we shall see. He’s certainly a horse with a nice future.

2.00 – Samuel Jackson

He caused a big shock in a novice hurdle at Taunton last season when he won at 100/1, and he proved that was no fluke by winning at Bangor next time out.

Things didn’t work out with him on his last run when it was a very messy start.

This is a really hot race with the likes of Kilbricken Storm in the race. Samuel Jackson isn’t that far behind on the ratings and was good enough to win first time out last season.

We might be tilting at windmills a bit but he’s a horse with minimal mileage on the clock and he might just go and surprise

2.30 – Court Master

I’ll make no bones about it this is a horse I really like.

He’s potentially one of the nicest horses that Michael has had and we are expecting a big run from him.

3.05 – Quiz Master

We can hopefully end his run of seconditis. He has really improved.

I rode him a couple of years back when he was a big raw baby. He’s been running really well and I think he’s got a big chance.

3.35 – Steel Native

Steel Native won this race last year so let’s hope he can repeat the dose.

His form has been a bit uninspiring but let’s hope he is saving his best for Ffos Las.
