A UK EU Referendum Before 2020
The odds on a second UK referendum on EU membership were cut after Theresa May’s latest bid to break the Brexit impasse at Westminster.
The PM told the House of Commons on Wednesday that MPs would be offered a vote on whether to hold a second referendum if they voted for the Withdrawal Agreement Bill set to be put to another Parliament vote in early June.
The latest attempt by Theresa May to solve the Brexit conundrum triggered a flurry of bets that a second referendum would indeed happen, resulting in us cutting the odds into 9/4 from 11/4 in the past 24 hours.
This is a far cry from the 16/1 available last summer.
The odds also suggest that any second vote would produce a different result, with a Remain victory a 7/2 shot versus the 7/1 that Leave would be rubber-stamped via another visit to the ballot box.
