Kieren Fallon Glorious Goodwood Saturday Preview - (2022)
final day of Glorious Goodwood is dominated by the Stewards’ Cup, a race which
I was lucky enough to win twice on Gift Horse and Hoof It.
a brilliant race but obviously one you need a lot of luck in. However, this
year I do think there is one standout horse in the race and I think he’ll take
we can end what has been a good week on a high as there are a few which catch
my eye on Saturday afternoon.
1.50 Glorious Goodwood – Boy In The Bar
My son little Cieren rides Blue De Vega and he’s has got loads of ability, but he’s hard to win with. He should like the conditions but will need some luck. I like the look of Boy In The Bar. Ryan Moore is an eyecatching jockey booking and he’s on a good mark as well. You’d rather be drawn in the middle than up the rail I think, but I’m sure Ryan will be able to get him out and into a good position.
3.00 Glorious Goodwood – Manuela De Vega
Manuela De Vega looks the one to be on in this race. She didn’t really have much of a race in the Irish Oaks so is coming into this race relatively fresh. She’s getting a lot of weight from the main two Enbihaar and Dramatic Queen and I think that’ll make the difference, it often does when good three-year-olds take on older horses at this time of the year. Enbihaar and Dramatic Queen are very closely matched having beaten each other one this season and I would expect Dramatic Queen to come off better this time with the lower weight and extra distance. That said, I do think they’ll both find it tough to be Manuela De Vega.
3.40 Glorious Goodwood – Khaadem
Khaadem is the standout horse in this race. His trainer Charlie Hills won this with a similar horse in Magical Memory and I’m reliably told that they think this horse is a lot better than him. He was a good winner of a Listed race at Newbury first time and then just didn’t fire at Royal Ascot, but that can happen to horses. He was right back to his best last time and looks to be on a very good mark for a race like this if he’s as good as they believe he is. Little Cieren ride Raucous and gets on very well with him, but he’s creeping up the handicap all the time. He’s a solid horse though and could run into a place at good odds.
4.50 Glorious Goodwood – Warning Fire
Fire ran really well at the course on Tuesday and I think coming back in trip
is exactly the right move for her. She’s got a good draw and Mark Johnston is
the man around here.
