It might be her first outing of the season and the drop-in distance is not ideal, from her favoured 12 furlongs to a mile and quarter, but she has the undisputed superior class to take the prize.

The daughter of Nathaniel, who won the Coral-Eclipse in 2012, overcame a lack of fitness when making it a second victory in last year’s Arc de Triomphe.

Her trainer John Gosden jokes that the Arc was the ideal prep race before Enable won the Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs in November.

On that occasion she had today’s rival Magical three-quarters of a length behind her in second place. And there is no reason why the tables will be turned.

Aidan O’Brien, responsible for Magical, runs a pacemaker, Hunting Horn, to help his filly.

But if Hunting Horn is asked to set a furious pace it will also aid ENABLE (3.35).

He impressed when winning the Dante at York before he ran at Epsom, also three-year-olds have taken this prize three times in the last four runnings.

Earlier on the card Irish recruit ENCAPSULATION (3.00, nb) can make a winning debut for Andrew Balding. She was a smart filly when under the care of Noel Meade.

At Chelmsford DALAALAAT(2.50, nap) can make amends for his unlucky run on his latest start at Nottingham. He was denied a clear on that occasion when third behind Ouzo who has enhanced the form by winning his following two races.

The improving CAMBRIC (4.50, treble) can add to last month’s impressive Salisbury success at Leicester.
