Today Politologue is 3lb better off and comes to the race after an excellent fourth behind Clan Des Obeaux in the King George VI Chase at Kempton.

He will obviously be a tough nut to crack but today’s, trip, two miles and five furlongs, will favour the selection.

Al Dancer (3.20) can make it a third victory for Nigel Twiston-Davies in the Betfair Hurdle. In past this competitive handicap took place at Newbury but following racings’ shutdown, due to equine flu, the contest has been transferred to Ascot.

This should not be a problem for the selection who has looked a potential star when winning all of his three races over hurdles.

Robinsfirth (3.35), who bizarrely does not have an entry for the National, can land the Grand National Trial Chase at Haydock.

He chased home Wakanda (now 2lb worse off) at this track last month when returning after an absence of 440 days.

He will obviously strip fitter today and looks to have the most to fear from stable companion Royal Vacation, a winner at Taunton last month.

Capriolette (6.45, nb), who is unlikely to ever race over the jumps, can continue her winning ways on the Flat at Kempton.
