Horse racing tips January 10: Horses you MUST back at Catterick, Chelmsford and Leicester | Racing | Sport

The William Haggas-trained four-year-old then moved into handicaps off a very decent mark but ran too freely over a mile and a quarter at Chelmsford. Returning to the same venue he was brought back to a mile and was a decent second, ridden by a claimer, Gianluca Sanna, on just his second ride in the UK. Sanna takes the ride once again at the same all-weather track and can oblige. Channel Packet looks the danger, trained by Michael Appleby.

THOUNDER (2.20, nb) was a decent hurdler back in 2017 winning back-to-back juvenile hurdles at Huntingdon and Wincanton on good ground. He was off the course for a year before pulling up on his return in a Listed race last month at Sandown. The ground was heavy that day, which he clearly hated, and back on a sound surface at Leicester the Gary Moore-trained five-year-old can return to winning ways. Master Work will also like the ground and can follow the selection home.

A six-time winner at Southwell, PIAZON (3.35, treble) can add to his tally this afternoon. Trained by Julia Brooke since last summer, the eight-year-old gelding has been tried on grass but the Southwell fibresand is clearly his surface as is the trip of five furlongs, with a win and two placed runs here since November.

The big race of the day, the Listed Charnwood Forest Mares' Chase at Leicester can go to the lightly-raced DESIRABLE COURT (1.45). Dan Skelton's six-year-old won a three-horse novices' chase at the venue over Christmas, beating the odds-on favourite Amour De Nuit by half a length. Arian is the danger.
