Glorious Goodwood Day 4 Preview – Bank On Battaash

Battaash is the star attraction on the fourth day of Glorious Goodwood as he bids for a third straight victory in the King George Stakes. The other hotpot on the day is Jubiloso who brings Group 1 form into the Oak Tree Stakes. The other two races on ITV see Duke of Hazzard try and backup a recent win and Seniority bids to give us a Royal winner.
Oak Tree Stakes
A bumper field of nineteen face the starter here but it appears that only one has a chance of winning and that horse is Jubiloso. The well-bred filly finished third in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes which is the standout piece of form in the race and with the slight drop in trip and a big drop in grade, she should win.
Billesdon Brook is a Group 3 course and distance winner along with being a classic winner. She evidently doesn’t run to that level of from anymore but won a listed race two starts back and can sneak a lace at a nice price.
The other mare that I think can feature s the consistent Angel’s Hideaway. She finished fourth in the 1000 Guineas and ran a fine race behind Space Traveller in the Jersey.
Selection: Jubiloso
Bonhams Stakes
The little-seen Art Du Val has only been beaten once in four starts and that was in a listed race at Deauville behind the re-opposing Duke of Hazzard. Paul Cole’s colt was an impressive winner of a listed race over a mile when sporting first-time blinkers and if they have the same effect he’ll go well.

King Ottokar is interesting dropping down in trip having just run out of petrol late on in the Hampton Court at Royal Ascot.
Selection: Duke of Hazzard
Golden Mile Handicap
Mojito returned from a lengthy absence to win nicely at Sandown earlier in the month. He’s three-pounds well in here and with the all-conquering Frankie Dettori in the saddle he’s a force to be reckoned with.
Mark Johnston’s horses have been running really well of late and Dark Vision was a Group 2 winner at this meeting last year. He’s on a nice mark now and must be considered.
History Writer has been running well recently and wasn’t far off Mojito when last seen. He’ll need to find further progress if he’s to feature.

Seniority hasn’t quite lived up to expectations but has won on his sole start at Goodwood. He’s on a workable mark and with Ryan, in the plate, he could feature.
Selection: Seniority – E/W
King George Stakes
This is all about the speedsters and the race sees Battaash bid for a third straight victory in the race. He came up short behind Blue Point in the King’s Stand and should complete the hat-trick.
El Astronaute is a course and distance winner and ran a fine race in a Group 2 at the Curragh when last seen. He’s in great form at present and looks most likely to follow home Battash.
Of the others, top handicapper Copper Knight could be the one to fill the placings.
Selection: Battaash
