Tiger Woods To Win Masters 2020
We were counting the cost of an outstanding punters’ coup on Sunday evening after Tiger Woods donned his fifth green jacket to land the most outlandish of doubles following Tiger Roll’s Grand National victory a week previous.
Woods bogeyed the 18th hole at Augusta but still finished one shot clear of the field at the Masters on -13 to claim the 15th major of his career and go within three of Jack Nicklaus’ all-time record.
Just a week before, another Tiger had got the ball rolling for speculative punters when Davy Russell steered the Grand National favourite to his second straight victory in the Aintree showpiece.
We had offered 80/1 on both sporting heroes winning their respective events but the odds tumbled as Tiger Roll crossed the line leaving bookies with a nervous watch at the first golf major of the year.
Nerves were jangling even further on Sunday as Francesco Molinari stumbled on the back 9, allowing Woods to swoop. One anonymous punter is walking off with a total of €81,000 after investing €1,000 on the double, which looks set to net punters who backed it hundreds of thousands winnings.
Woods is already the joint 9/1 favourite to equal another Jack Nicklaus record by making it six green jackets with a win at next year’s Masters.
