Timeform take you through the card at Wolverhampton on Monday…
“The further step up in trip can suit…”
Timeform on Percy's Princess
17:40 – Sir Mark Prescott has his string back in form after a baron spell and PERCY'S PRINCE (7) looks to be able to continue this. He shaped as if needing the run last time out, travelling well before getting headed a furlong out. The further step up in trip can suit along with the drop-in grade, and he looks to have a good chance. SPARGROVE (1) is another to focus on, from a good staying family and the form of his last run at Chelmsford having taken a boost with the winner going in convincingly again since. That will give him a chance in what looks to be a modest opening contest.
18:10 – Archie Watson has had a fine run of form with two-year-old fillies from the word go this season and PORTUGUESEPRINCESS (9) is taken to run well on debut in what doesn't look the strongest of races. PADDY ELLIOTT (4) ran right up to his best last time when encountering the stiffest 5f he's faced at Newcastle and shaped as if he would appreciate todays extra distance.
18:40 – In what looks an open sprint handicap, the one that looks best to focus on is MENDOZA (11). A winner last time out on his second start for his new yard, he looked to improve for a switch to the all-weather and the handicapper could have been harsher on his new mark, only raising him 3lbs for that success. That should keep him competitive and he looks to have every chance if reproducing the form.
19:10 – MAIDEN NAVIGATOR (11) is dropped into claiming company on only her fifth start and looks to have a good shout on these terms. Her best run came second time out, improving for a step up to today's trip and not having the best of runs before staying towards the finish. She returned after a lay-off in a handicap, over racing that day, and looks to be in with a chance of getting her head in front with the drop-in grade and favourable conditions all in her favour.
19:40 – This race looks to set to be run at a good pace, with a few horses wanting to be up with the speed. This could set the race up for EXCELLED (2). She travelled strongly last time out on her first start on the all-weather and ran on towards the finish without challenging the places too much but looked to be wanting this extra furlong to give her the best chance of getting competitive.
20:10 – The draw over this trip at Wolverhampton is often a worry and it pays to look towards the low numbers. The form line to concentrate on looks to be between ALLUX BOY (6), drawn 2, and PUSHAQ (7), drawn 3, with the Irish raider being favoured on 6lb better terms for a two and a quarter length beating. Allux Boy has been raced frequently since this race and looks to be held off a mark of 57, whereas Pushaq has only raced once since, with a line being able to put through that having done too much too soon, and he looks the one to be with.
20:40 – A weak looking minor event to round off the card won't take much winning from one of the newcomers, with the pick of those being UZINCSO (5). From the form horses, the most exposed is AL DAAYEN (6), having her first start since leaving Mark Johnston, but would be the selection over the twice raced pair of Imajorblush and Mirabelle Plum, who will have handicaps on the agenda next time out.
