Timeform pick out their best back, lay and smart stat bets on Monday…
“…he had a bit more in hand than the winning margin would suggest…”
Timeform on Grand Rock
Grand Rock – 15:50 Pontefract
Freyja, Wyclif and King Carney are all open to improvement but Grand Rock sets the standard and handles testing ground so is the one to beat. Grand Rock improved markedly on his debut to win on heavy ground at Hamilton and then took another step forward to score at Epsom on similarly testing going. He won only narrowly, scoring by a neck, but he had a bit more in hand than the winning margin would suggest, while his proven stamina is an asset.
Sir Ivan – 16:10 Plumpton
Sir Ivan wasn't disgraced when last seen at Uttoxeter in May and is fairly treated. However, he has an in-and-out profile and isn't one to put maximum faith in. He can be opposed with Rosy World, who is unexposed and won well over C&D when last seen in March.
Jazz Hands – 19:30 Southwell
Smart Stat: £91.92 – Richard Fahey's profit to a £1 level stake with horses running in first-time headgear
Richard Fahey has a fantastic record when putting headgear on his horses for the first time and the application of cheekpieces could make a positive difference to Jazz Hands, who has been running creditably of late. This trip is short of his best but the pace is forecast to be strong and cheekpieces could drag out some improvement.
