The three-year-old, who will be making his seasonal reappearance, has already won at this level (at Doncaster last September) and signed off his juvenile campaign with a fourth in the Group One Dewhurst Stakes behind Too Darn Hot.
If Stoute has him primed for this first start of 2019 then he should prove too good for this field under Ryan Moore. Course winner Walkinthesand was narrowly beaten in two Listed events last season and is a big danger.
The John Gosden-trained Lord North was a wide-margin winner at Newcastle last month and could also get involved if handling this step up in class.
Earlier on the card, Stoute can score with REGAL REALITY (nb, 7.35) in the Group Three Brigadier Gerard Stakes. Regal Reality, who will also be ridden by Moore, was third in a Group Two on this course behind Beat The Bank.
That came after a lengthy break of 210 days so he will be much fitter for the outing. The Yarmouth and Goodwood winner will take all the beating. Matterhorn and Bombyx are the pair who might give him most to do.
Staying at Sandown, DEE EX BEE (treble, 7.05) can land the other Group Three on the card – the Henry II Stakes over two miles – for trainer Mark Johnston.
Dee Ex Bee had an unproductive season last year, finishing second and seventh in the Epsom and Irish Derbys, but a step up in trip has seen him take on a new lease of life.
Running for the first time over today’s distance, Dee Ex Bee scored a comfortable success in the Group Three Sagaro Stakes at Ascot earlier this month and should take this in his stride. Making Miracles, who is on a hat-trick after wins in handicaps at Ripon and Chester, is the danger.
