It was great to see one of the yard favourites Wazowski win last week at Bangor for Theo Gillard. A lot of the winter horses are out enjoying their summer break but that being said it’s going to be a pretty busy weekend for the team here at Bankhouse with six runners on Saturday between Carlisle and Haydock. We also travel to Market Rasen on Sunday for two runners in a novice hurdle.

All of thoughts on their chances can be read below, on a weekend I’d be hopeful of having a winner or two:

Saturday

Horse: Birch Vale
Track: Haydock – 1:30
Jockey: Will Kennedy

It’s his first run back after a break and it is by far the toughest race she’s run in. I think she is fairly handicapped but it’s just a question if she is experienced enough for a race of this nature.

Viserion
Horse: Viserion
Track: Carlisle – 1:40
Jockey: Harry Stock

He’s an old flat horse that has been around for a bit and to be honest he’s got his own ideas about the job a bit. He has ran some of his best race around Carlisle and although the trip is a little bit sharp for him, he likes the track so that’s why we are going there.

Horse: Nayati
Track: Haydock – 2:05
Jockey: Will Kennedy

Like Beach Break, he is qualified for this so he’ll take his chance. It’s a great initiative and we need these races so I like to support them. Nayati might go chasing during the summer but he’s eligible to run in a final and we will take our chance.

Horse: Beach Break
Track: Haydock – 2:05
Jockey: Theo Gillard

He is going to be running all summer so it’s his first run back. I think he may just need this run and there will be plenty other days to look forward to with him for the rest of the year.

Liva
Horse: Liva
Track: Carlisle – 2:50
Jockey: Daryl Jacob

He is the one to beat in this looking at some of the other horses form in the race. I wouldn’t have been that impressed with Philip Kirby’s horse at Sedgfield where he struggled to win what was a bad race but it could have been that he’d only just come over. A stiff two miles going right handed is what Liva wants and he must go close.

Horse: Tawseef
Track: Carlisle – 4:00
Jockey: Abbie McCain

I wasn’t going to run him because the ground is quick enough there but when I saw the strength of the race I just had to declare him. The ground would be a question mark but if he goes on it he will go very well.

Sunday

Horse: Ormsher
Track: Market Rasen – 2:00
Jockey: Abbie McCain

He’s a grand little horse who in truth, is only tiny but the ground will be safe at Market Rasen so he’s going there. He’s going to be going handicapping and he needs to start off somewhere. I don’t think he’s well handicapped so I thought it just made sense before we start a new season to get one more run in novice company to get more practice into him.

On his day he’s not a bad little horse and he could run ok but it might just be he’s a handicapper rather than a horse that’s able to win a novice carrying two penalties.

Horse: Doctor Jazz
Track: Market Rasen – 2:00
Jockey: Will Kennedy

He’s been a disappointing horse thus far, having shown some ability on the flat for Richard Hannon. He’ll probably find his ow level when going handicapping but I don’e see him winning a novice hurdle at this stage.

Best Chance: Tawseef
